Weber, D. L. (2004). Event-related potential indices§of attention and memory in post-traumatic stress§disorder. Ph.D. Thesis, School of Psychology, The§Flinders University of South Australia, GPO Box 2100,§Adelaide SA 5001, Australia.§§Primary Supervisor: C. Richard Clark, Ph.D.;§Co-Supervisor: Alexander C. McFarlane, BMBS, MD.§§This dissertation used advanced neuroimaging methods§to investigate cognitive processes in post-traumatic§stress disorder (PTSD). After publication of earlier§work, we and several other groups replicated and§extended findings of abnormal attention for§non-traumatic information in PTSD. This thesis§developed this area of work in two ways: (a) it used§ event-related potentials recorded from a dense scalp§topography (using 128 scalp electrodes) and new§methods of topographic analysis, and (b) it examined§several components of cognitive function in PTSD,§including selective attention, working memory, and§target detection.
