The increasing number of ESL students in US colleges§and universities has created an urgent need for§mainstream and ESL educators to understand ESL§students and their academic writing practices in§multicultural classrooms. Using a representative§sample of Kenyan student writers in a North American§university, the book explores pertinent ESL academic§writing practices including: perceptions of writing,§writing processes, writing challenges, and provides§practical recommendations for best practices in§teaching ESL students in US colleges and universities.§§The book utilizes second language writing research§and theory to inform academic writing instruction,§and serves several purposes.
