"Pictowords", with a foreword by Shutaro Mukai, presents a project Baumann & Baumann carried out together with eighty students over the course of eighty hours at the Musashino Art University, Tokyo. Countless word-pictures and pictorial words were created. The assumption arose that, in Japan, pictorial writing and thus visual thinking leads to an amazing variety of unusual, playful, matter-of-fact, impressive and sometimes surprisingly simple solutions when working with our Latin letters. Barbara and Gerd Baumann develop comprehensive design and communication concepts for business companies, institutions and communities, for exhibitions, as well as for representation and information systems.
